Club records

CLUB RECORDS

  • The best ever performance by any member(s) riding in the name of the Club on a bicycle, tandem bicycle, tricycle, or tandem  tricycole, at distances of 10, 25, 30, 50 and 100 miles, and 12 and 24 hours, on approved out and home courses, at 50 and 100 miles, 12 and 24 hours on approved straightaway courses provided the figures are better than the existing out and home records, shall be recognised as club records after confirmation by the committee.
  • The best ever ride(s) by any member riding in the name of the Club from Southampton to London and back, Dorchester to Exeter and back, (Exact turning points as determined by the Western Counties R. R. A), and  Round Wessex, shall be recognised as Club records after confirmation by the Committee.
  • In the case of private trials, place to place or Round Wessex rides, written notice accompanied by 2 copies of the rider(s) schedule, and a fee of 25p, shall be sent 7 days prior to the attempt to the Hon. Secretary, whom shall also approve the means for timimg. In the case of tandem attempts the fee shall be 25p per rider.
  • A written claim accompanied by the necessary proof must be forwarded within 14 days of the ride to the Hon Secretary, who will submit same to the Committee. The onus of proof shall in all cases rest with the rider(s)
  • Should rider(s) be followed by motor or otherwise, the rules of the Roads Records Association dealing with same shall be strictly observed.
  • The best ever performances by any first claim veteran or lady veteran member of the Club on a bicycle or tricycle, at 10, 25, 30, 50 and 100 miles, and 12 and 24 hours, in events promoted under C.T.T. regulations, shall be recognised as Club veteran or lady veteran records respectively, after confirmation by the Committee. No record claim will be considered if a better time or distance has already been made by a record holder of greater age.
  • The best ever performances on bicycles or tricycles, by teams of 3 members riding in open or inter-club events, shall be recognised as Club team records.
  • A certificate shall be awarded for all rides recognised as Club records by the Committee.

Dorchester (Top o’ Town)
Sherborne (Junct Oborne Rd and New Road)
Shaftesbury Town Hall
Hindon Cross Roads
Wilton (Junct A30 and A36)
Salisbury (St Thomas Bridge)
Cholderton (Park House Cross Roads)
Whitchurch Roundabout
Kings Worthy (Junct A33 and A34)
Swaythling Railway Bridge.
Any approved point on the route can be the starting point, and this must also be the finishing point, the complete route having been followed in either direction. Should an official timekeeper not be available for this ride, then it may be timed by any responsible member of the club and another credible witness who shall be approved by the committee. The watch used shall be compared immediately before the start and after the finish with Greenwich Time. Any variations shall be noted and accepted as corrections to the watch.
